The McLaren Senna Will Debut At The 2018 Beijing Auto Show

On the 25th of April to the 4th of May, McLaren Automotive will make its presence felt at the Beijing Auto Show by giving the McLaren Senna its Chinese debut and introducing a limited production run of unique 570GT cars. Its acclaimed Ultimate Series, Super Series, and Sports Series families will be represented by 5 of the latest McLarens displayed on its split-level stand. These will of course by headlined by the Senna, designed and engineered to be the ultimate road-legal McLaren track car and staying true to the Senna name.

Its 4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces 800PS (789bhp) and 800Nm (590b ft) of torque, making it the most powerful internal combustion engine ever to power a McLaren road car. Paired with 800kg of maximum downforce, this enables the McLaren Senna to forge the purest connection possible between itself and its driver. And though its straight-line performance credentials of 0–100km/h (62mph) in 2.8 seconds, 0-200km/h (124mph) in 6.8 seconds, a 9.9 second standing quarter-mile time, and a 340km/h (211 mph) maximum speed are most impressive, it will be in full circuit lap times where the Senna delivers maximum performance.

A special limited production run of 570GT Sports Series cars will also be introduced in Beijing alongside the Senna, designed in collaboration with a Chinese designer and showcasing traditional Chinese craftsmanship. These 570GTs will incorporate traditional Chinese elements with a modern twist, in conjunction with hand-crafted panels from a traditional Chinese embroidery master, and are to be sold exclusively in China.

This directly reflects McLaren Automotive’s growing presence in the Chinese market. The company’s sales in the country are expected to double throughout 2018 with the 720S and new 570S Spider shortly becoming available. To cater for the increasing demand, McLaren Automotive will introduce a new retailer in Xiamen and update its Guangzhou and Shenzhen showrooms. Jolyon Nash, Sales and Marketing Director for McLaren Automotive said, “It is a great honour for us to return to China and Beijing will provide the perfect backdrop to unveil the new McLaren Senna for the first time to the important Chinese market. McLaren Automotive is now recognised as an innovator that pushes the technical boundaries in areas such as hybrid powertrain, lightweight materials, the use of virtual reality and beyond and the McLaren Senna recognises this indomitable spirit. McLaren is set to import new models, expand our retailer network, boost investment and grow sales in China, all while working closely with local businesses, designers and craftspeople to jointly celebrate British and Chinese culture of which the soon to-be unveiled 570GT run will provide a perfect demonstration.”
