The new Porsche 991.2 911 GT3 RS has been introduced by Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Equally capable on road and track, the latest member of the RennSport 911 family is fully synonymous with hardcore performance and driving thrills, just like its predecessors which include such icons as the 997 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and 964 911 Carrera RS 3.8. Powered by a 520hp evolution of the 991.1 911 GT3 RS’ 4 liter high-performance naturally-aspirated flat-6 engine, it hits 100 km/h from rest in 3.2 seconds and is capable of a 312 km/h maximum speed. With a searing 9,000RPM redline, the high-performance engine joins a specifically calibrated seven-speed PDK transmission to deliver outstanding performance and a rewarding driving experience.
Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance said, “With a lap time of 6 minutes and 56.4 seconds, the new 911 GT3 RS sets a time of just nine seconds below the most powerful Porsche 911, the GT2 RS. Motorsport is an essential driving force behind the Porsche development team, a force that makes motorsport derived technology perfectly adapted for the road. The new 911 GT3 RS promises an unadulterated sound, pure performance, and a challenge that a sports car enthusiast cannot resist.”
The GT3 RS’ wide, weight-optimised body incorporates a design led fully by aerodynamic function, from the brake cooling NACA ducts in its hood to the adjustable rear wing. Its chassis incorporates ball joints on each suspension arm for increased driving precision over conventional elastokinematic bearings. Weight saving measures are also evident throughout the new 911 GT3 RS, from carbon fiber full bucket seats shared with the 918 Spyder to lightweight door panels with storage nets and opening loops, a new lightweight rear engine cover and minimal sound insulation.
For an even more track-focused driving experience, 911 GT3 RS owners can order the no-cost Clubsport package. This includes a six-point harness, rollover bar, manual fire extinguisher, and preparation for a battery disconnect switch. Furthermore, Porsche’s motorsport department has created the optional Weissach package for ultimate weight reduction. This incorporates a bolt-in roll cage made of titanium rather than steel, along with additional carbon fiber elements for the chassis, interior and exterior. The Weissach package provides approximately 17kg of weight reduction to the 991.2 911 GT3 RS in its lightest configuration. Pricing for this new RennSport starts from RM2,230,000 including a 4-year warranty and all applicable duties, except registration fee, road tax and insurance.
