Phoenix Racing Asia Takes A Podium Finish At Super Taikyu Series

Phoenix Racing Asia finished third overall in the Super Taikyu 5-hour race at Japan’s stunning mountain-top Autopolis Circuit which stands over 3,000 metres above sea-level. In the 2018 Super Taikyu season’s fourth race, 3-time Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup champion Alex Yoong joined Alex Au and Audi Sport customer racing Asia driver pool member Shaun Thong to take the #82 Audi R8 LMS GT3 to their second series podium finish of the year.

Jeffrey Lee, Super GT driver André Couto and reigning Cup champion Alessio Picariello finished fourth with the #81 J-Fly Racing by Phoenix Racing Asia R8 LMS GT3, while Shintaro Kawabata, Lim Keong Wee and Melvin Moh took sixth with the #83 Phoenix Racing Asia R8 LMS GT3.

At the Bangsaen street circuit in Thailand’s Chonburi province, B-Quik Racing faced a tough weekend of racing in the Thailand Super Series double-header. Competing in the series’ Super Car GTM+ class, team stalwart Daniel Bilski put in encouraging stints with Audi Sport customer racing Asia driver pool member Adderly Fong; however their podium hopes were dashed when their Audi R8 LMS ultra was forced to retire by technical issues in the latter stages of both races, the bumpy and challenging street circuit having taken took its toll on the car.
