McLaren Automotive will unveil a bespoke series of 570GT cars at the Auto China 2018 show in Beijing this week, developed jointly by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) and Chinese fashion designer and entrepreneur Mr. Cabbeen. Resulting from a styling collaboration with the Chinese fashion design wear company, the McLaren 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection will be MSO’s first bespoke model to incorporate distinctive Chinese classic design elements, and will be produced in a limited edition of 5 cars only.
Its exterior is finished in MSO Bespoke Obsidian Black paint complemented by a hand-painted dragon design in Gloss Speedline Gold on both door inserts. Other exterior refinements include new 15-Spoke GT wheels finished in Gloss Speedline Gold, the unique color which also adorns its brake calipers. Managing Director of McLaren Special Operations, Ansar ALi said, “McLaren Special Operations is dedicated to providing customers with tailored choices that offer them almost endless personalisation alternatives. As a fusion of contemporary British design style and Chinese classic art elements, the 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection was created to satisfy Chinese customers’ desire for individualisation and is further evidence of the growing interest in MSO services in the China market.”
The interior of the McLaren 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection is enhanced with MSO Defined Carbon Sill Covers, along with distinctively unique vivid sculptural dragons designed by Mr. Cabbeen and embroidered in gold on the Alcantara® Centre Front Tunnel and Rear Luggage Deck. These represent an example of Chao Embroidery which is recognized as part of China’s cultural heritage, and imbue the 5 five Cabbeen Collection cars’ interiors with a heightened sense of luxury. The sewing work was conducted by Kang Huifang, the Director of the Professional Embroidery Committee of China’s Arts and Crafts Institute who is known for her work to preserve Chao Embroidery over the past 4 decades.
Well-known to be the most luxurious and refined Sports Series model, the McLaren 570GT still retains a thrilling signature McLaren driving experience even as it provides increased long-distance comfort and versatility. Its unique visual identity is embodied in classic GT lines sweeping down into its side-opening rear glass hatch, which provides access to 220 litres of additional storage space on the leather-lined touring deck. Its 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engine delivers exhilarating driving performance, while specifically tuned chassis settings provide enhanced levels of comfort compared to other members of the Sports Series family.
